Yellowtail is widely distributed in the northwest Pacific Ocean, from Japan to Hawaii and important aquaculture fish in Japan. For functional gene identification for biological traits and breeding yellowtail by marker-assisted selection (MAS) or gene-assisted selection (GAS), we carried out whole genome de novo sequencing using Hiseq2500 and PacBio RSII to constructed genome reference sequences of yellowtail and map parallel re-sequence of yellowtail on the reference sequence for SNP detection. Whole-genome single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) is one of the most important genomic resources for population diversity, conservation genetics and functional gene identification for biological traits.
