The genome sequence and structure of the marine oleaginous diatom Fistulifera solaris strain JPCC DA0580 was analyzed using a nanopore sequencer MinION. The genome sequence of F. solaris was previously analyzed by 454 pyrosequencing (BioProject Accession: PRJDB2969). The analysis using MinION covered the genomic features which 454 pyrosequencing was not able to revealed.
