Opinion on smart meters installation in Great Britain 2018-2021

According to a 2021 survey, the majority of smart meter users in Great Britain were satisfied with the installation process. In the second quarter of 2021, the satisfaction rate stood at 77 percent, a decrease of four percentage points compared to the previous quarter. By comparison, dissatisfaction level is considerably lower, at 11 percent in the second quarter of 2021. In 2016, Great Britain made smart meters mandatory. Energy suppliers are required to offer gas and electricity smart meters to all domestic and small business customers, by the end of 2025. Besides bringing more awareness of the current consumption to the consumers, smart meters are deemed fundamental to the energy market transition, and for the country to achieve its zero emissions target by 2050.
