The aim of the research project was to isolate halophile bacteria in order to gain information on the hypersalt resistance systems. Therefore, Halomonas sp. GDM18 has been isolated from the North Sea of Aberdeen and cultivated in the lab under high salt concentration. The genome of Halomonas sp. GDM18 has been sequenced to find if different salt resistance mechanisms could be describe.
