To investigate the toxicological mechanisms of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) at environmentally relevant concentrations, we exposed crucian carp (Carassius auratus) to PFOS for 21 days. Following this exposure period, we conducted transcriptomic sequencing of the liver tissue to comprehensively analyze gene expression changes. This approach allowed us to identify key pathways and molecular responses affected by PFOS, providing insights into its toxicity mechanisms in fish. The results from this study offer valuable information on how environmentally relevant concentrations of PFOS impact the hepatic transcriptome of crucian carp, thereby enhancing our understanding of the potential ecological risks associated with PFOS contamination.
