These Access Tables contain information on artifacts from the Eaton site. Four tables (Levels 1-4)and a fifth table (Extras) each contain records for 259 2m x 2m excavation units. Each of these tables contain 33 columns reflecting data categories (debris, utilized flakes, etc.). Levels 1 and 2 combined are the plow zone. Successive levels are 10 cm. in thickness. The Extras table contains data from any lower levels, features, or wall scrapings.
Clarification of the above tables:
Units 24S 10W and 22S 8W are not complete units and are not used in GIS mapping.
Debris counts do not include utilized flakes or other lithic tools.
Frag = core fragments at least 1 inch by .75 inch by .75 inch.,
Cores do not include exhausted cores.
ExCore = exhausted cores,
UtFlk = utilized flakes (not counted as debris). Excludes utilized notches.
B2 = Second stage biface preform (after Callahan 1979),
B25 = Stage 2.5 biface preform (an elaboration of Callahan 1979),
B3 = Third Stage biface preforms,
B35 = Stage 3.5 biface preform,
LS = Late Stage Biface Preform (Stage 4 - Complete),
Bf = Biface fragment, unknown stage,
Scp = whole scrapers,
BkScp = broken scrapers,
Endscp = endscrapers,
Bkendscrp = broken endscrapers,
Spoke = spokeshave scraper (notch). Includes utilized flakes with a notch showing use wear.
Knife = whole knives,
Knifebx = broken knives,
Drill = drills, awls, gravers, and burins (broken and whole),
Pts = Whole Madison Points,
Pttp = point tips,
Ptbse = point bases (Madison),
Ptmd = point mid-sections,
Multi = Multi-purpose tool (functions may include cutting, scraping, and/or drilling),
Tool = tool fragment, indeterminant function,
Grind = ground stone tool with a grinding function (grinding slabs, metates, handstone/manos),
Pound = ground stone with a pounding puction (hammerstones, mortars, pestles, anvils),
Chop = ground stone with a chopping function (celts, axes, adzes),
Smooth - ground stone with a smoothing function (whetstone, abrader),
Shrds = sherds including rims (not vessel counts),
Pipe = pipes and pipe fragments,
fcr = fire altered rock in kilograms,
bone = see separate faunal document,
yr = year the unit was excavated. See field report for that year for more information on the unit.
Other tables include: the ratio of debitage to utilized flakes, Madison Point refits, unit information (inside, partial, or outside longhouses), whole Madison points, and Non-Iroquoian Points.
