Culturomics of Andropogon gerardii in Colby, Kansas, USA

We aim to infer the microbial population(s) associated with Andropogon gerardii that were resilient to drought and provide insights into the microbial functions by (1) cultivating and isolating microbes that existed in the ecotypes under drought-induced stress and (2) obtaining genomic insights into drought-resilient bacterial populations that can contribute to the nitrogen transformation. This study focused on combining culturomics and high-resolution genomic sequencing to identify microbial populations and their functional potential in enhancing associated Andropogon gerardii resilience during drought stress.
