Investigating the biology of the Klebsiella telomere phage, NAR688

This thesis investigates interactions between viruses and bacteria. Specifically, it focuses on a group of viruses that take up residence within bacterial cells and change the way these bacteria behave. The viruses in question equip their bacterial hosts with weapons that can be used to kill other bacteria. In doing so, they not only shape microbial communities, but also give us clues about new ways of fighting against pathogenic bacteria.
