We conducted an inventory of leaf-litter ant genera in the Reserva Florestal do Morro Grande (RFMG), São Paulo state, southeastern Brazil, sampling 30 genera across six subfamilies. These genera were categorized into nine guilds based on their typical foraging substrates and trophic habits. Four guilds were most frequently sampled, with Guild 4 - comprising epigaeic and hypogaeic omnivores and consisting exclusively of army ants - showing the highest relative frequency. Thus, army ants were selected to provide an ecological overview of the RFMG, given their environmental significance through complex interactions with multiple species. Among these interactions are those with sampled taxa such as <i>Eciton burchellii</i>, <i>Labidus praedator</i>, and <i>Labidus coecus</i>, which could be associated with the presence of certain bird species, including <i>Basileuterus culicivorus</i>.
