NRS-12971 | Copies of annual balance sheets and share registers of public companies

Under the Companies Act 1936, public companies (ie. companies having a share capital) were required to deposit annually with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies: a summary of the share capital of the company showing authorised capital, number of fully and partly paid up shares, number and amount of forfeited shares, amount of indebtedness of the company "in respect of the mortgages, charges, and liens", directors' particulars (ie names, nationalities, addresses etc.); an auditor's certificate that the company had complied with the provisions of the Unclaimed Moneys Act 1917 (as required by S.367 of the Companies Act, 1936); a copy of the company's annual report; and a list of persons who have held shares in the company at any time since the last return showing the names, addresses, and (occasionally) occupations of shareholders (whether personal or corporate), number of shares held, particulars of shares transferred, dates of registration of transfer forms etc. (5/3323-409). 214 boxes (part), 5 vols.
