Local Government Organization at Municipal and County Level, Municipality Sample, 1995

This dataset is taken from the survey "Survey on Municipal Organization", which was conducted by the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) on behalf of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development (KAD). The purpose of the survey was to collect data for KAD's organizational database. This database provides data on various features of municipal organization in most municipalities and county municipalities in Norway. The purpose of the database is to provide a tool that enables municipalities, counties, state authorities, researchers and others with an interest in municipal organization, to be able to obtain an overview of important organizational features of municipalities and counties, either together or individually. The database is currently based on surveys conducted in 1995, 1996 and 2000. KAD aims to update the database of data every four years after the municipal and county council elections. The next database update will take place during 2004.

This file contains data for Norwegian county municipalities retrieved in 1995. The data set is divided into three main sections:

1. Political organization
2. Administrative organization
3. Audit, information/communication measures and competitive exposure
