Asthma protection by an environmental microbe is mediated by IL-6 and changes in the caecal microbiota

Certain environmental bacteria including Acinetobacter lwoffii (AL) have been implicated in protection from chronic inflammatory diseases including asthma. However, the underlying mechanisms at the immune-microbe interface remain largely unknown. we developed a model with recurrent intranasal AL application, and confirmed the asthma preventive effect of AL.
