"Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a latent health state that has developed into a communal ailment among the female population. The present work aims to investigate the effectiveness of early screening of PCOS using infrared thermography against conventionally used fertility markers. Method: The study participants of known PCOS and control subjects (N=60) took part based on the questionnaire and the fertility markers. The study subjects volunteered for non-contact infrared thermal imaging to study the metabolic changes at the epidermal layer of the skin. Results: This research indicates the surface temperature of the skin at the cutaneous upper lip region of the face, neck, and carotid area (p=0.034, p=0.005, and p=0.004) decreased significantly among the affected group. The estimated neck temperature with the threshold set at 35.26oC acts as a surrogate marker for PCOS disorder that resulted in a diagnostic accuracy of 85% and 82% of the study group and validation group, respectively."
