Work study for the row thinning of Cryptomeria japonica plantation in Chilan Shan area

The marking of operation area for Chilan Mountain was finished. There are three areas totally. Each area concludes three 10m-width thinning zones and 10m, 20m, 30m-width retained zones.
The work study, work photographing and reserved species investigation for first operation area (line 130) were finished. And the curve for tree hight-DBH, operation time and percentage of different units(traffic, felling, cutting, preparing and allowance)(cutting occupied 46% was the highest) and daily average operational effiency for different works could be got. Furthermore, the related cost for the thinning of Chilan Mountain Cryptomeria japonica plantations was collected and analyzed, the fixed costs (equipments, tools) was about 440~460 dollars/m3, the variable costs(fuels, expendables) was about 720~820 dollars/m3.
