Canadian Gallup Poll, October 1981, #454_1

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly political issues. The questions ask opinions about political leaders and political issues within the country. There are also questions on other topics of interest and importance to the country and government, such as pay television, marijuana possession and the future of the economy. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic and social variables. Topics of interest include: the approval of Ed Broadbent as NDP leader; the approval of Joe Clark as leader of the Conservative party; the approval of Trudeau as Prime Minister; the best policy regarding nuclear generation; the biggest threat to Canada in the future; confidence in United States problem solving; criminalizing marijuana possession; the effects of building a nuclear power plant; the influence of television on family life; the amount of interest in pay television; interest level of International hockey; the power of unions in the future; predictions for the future of the economy; providing the railroad with governmental assistance; and watching Canada Cup hockey. Basic demographic variables are also included.
