Dataset for: Machine learning prediction of the effect of geographical conditions and climate parameters on animal-based biogas energy potential and methane emissions: A case study of Türkiye

District-level dataset (973 districts of Türkiye, 2021) of the article "Machine learning prediction of the effect of geographical conditions and climate parameters on animal-based biogas energy potential and methane emissions: A case study of Türkiye". The dataset contains the numbers of cattle, small ruminants and poultry, the collectable manure amounts, the agricultural areas, the coordinates of the district centres, the theoretical biogas potential, the CH4 emissions calculated with the IPCC Tier 1 and Tier 2 approaches, the out-of-fold predictions of the best machine-learning models and the province-level totals. Animal numbers and agricultural areas were obtained from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The climatic variables used in the article were provided by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS) and are not included, because they may not be redistributed; they can be requested from TSMS. The sheets README and Variables of the Excel file describe the data and every column.
