Relative-age over-representation without superior passing performance in pre-adolescent football players A cross-sectional study using the Loughborough Soccer Passing Test

This record contains the anonymised participant-level dataset, data dictionary, reproducible analysis code, numerical outputs, manuscript tables, and publication-ready figures for a cross-sectional observational study examining relative age and passing performance in pre-adolescent football players assessed with the Loughborough Soccer Passing Test (LSPT). The source dataset comprised 61 participant records. The analytical sample included 45 players with at least one complete LSPT result; 43 players completed two trials and two completed one trial. Variables include chronological age, birth month, relative-age quarter and semester, anthropometric characteristics, football experience, attendance, and trial-level LSPT movement, penalty, bonus, and total performance times. Lower LSPT total performance time indicates better performance. The accompanying code reproduces the analyses of relative-age representation, birth-cohort-adjusted associations between birth month and LSPT performance, sensitivity analyses using alternative LSPT outcomes, and agreement between trials. Names, identity-document numbers, exact dates of birth, contact information, and participant re-identification keys are not included. Participants are represented by random non-sequential identifiers.
