Caretta caretta (loggerhead sea turtle) transcriptome, rCarCar4

The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) is a species of oceanic turtle distributed throughout the world. It is found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. It spends most of its life in saltwater and estuarine habitats, with females briefly coming ashore to lay eggs (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a female juvenile individual was procured by Lisa Komoroske and the Florida Atlantic University Marine lab in Boca Raton, Florida, to generate transcriptome data for rCarCar2 reference genome of the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing was conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
