To gain new knowledge on the structural modifications of asbestos during its prolonged permanence in lung tissues, we propose to perform nano-X-ray diffraction (nano-XRD) measurements on single asbestos fibers (AF) embedded in lung tissue samples from human subjects who were occupationally exposed to asbestos for years.
