Bacteria community of Ethiopian arable soils

In this study we described, characterized and classified selected arable soils in Tigray Regional State of Ethiopia based on FAO (2006) and WRB (2015), then examined bacterial community structure and pattern of SMR across these soils. The objectives were i) to investigate how SMR and bacterial community structure shift in response to change in soil properties. ii) to identify primary soil properties that best predict the variation of bacterial community structure and microbial respiration. iii) to describe the bacterial community of the soils and investigate the abundance of bacteria, which are important from the crop growing aspects, i.e. PGPB. To our knowledge, this is the first attempt to generate both the soil bacterial metagenome and metabolic profile of agricultural soils of Ethiopia.
