Advancing Big Data-Based Active Travel and Shared Micromobility Analysis

This thesis examines how people walk, cycle, and use shared e-scooters in cities, and how their choices are influenced by the surrounding environment. Using social media posts and GPS data from Melbourne, it shows that heat, traffic, and street design strongly affect travel behaviour. The findings guide the design of safer bike lanes, cooler and more comfortable streets, and better shared e-scooter services. This work provides practical evidence to support healthier, more sustainable, and more inclusive transport systems.
