Belowground plant biomass at Pebble Hill Fire Plots

Root biomass was excavated to 20 cm depth in 36 0.1 m² plots stratified over replicated plots burned at 1, 2, 3, and 4 year intervals. Belowground plant biomass was extracted from the soil volume, measured for volume, and weighed in different size categories and plant life form groups (pine root, graminoid, woody+forb). Aboveground biomass was also collected and weighed by plant life form group (graminoid, forb, woody). Biomass was also separated into the size classes <0.2 cm, 0.2-1 cm, and >1 cm.
