Detection and distribution of saproxylic beetles of community interest in the Natura 2000 network of the Basque Country - Euskadi Nature Information System

This work aims to add more information on the occurrence and distribution of saproxylic beetle species of community interest in places RN2000 little or no prospected. Four sites were selected in 2022: Arno (ES2120001), Garate-Santa Bárbara (ES2120007), Urkiola (2130009) and Sierra Sálvada/Sálvada mendilerroa (ES0000244), all located in the Atlantic bioregion. The first two contain enclaves representative of particular forests (cantabric oak and cork oak, respectively), and the last two include important areas of natural or semi-natural native forests. Four other sites were prospected in 2023: Montes Altos de Vitoria (ES2110015), Sierras Meridionales de Álava (2110018), Robledales Isla de Urkabustaiz (ES2110003) and Aiako Harria (ES2120016), all included in the Atlantic bioregion and the second, in addition, in part of the Mediterranean. The first two contain enclaves with culturally veteranized trees and the last two include important areas of natural or semi-natural native forests with levels of maturation above the average of the Basque Country, located and mapped in the Maduro Rodals Network.
