<i>This study aims to review how GIS tools have been used around the world in malaria research and its importance in public health improvement. The study entails review of state of the art and comparison between selected research approach to arrive at a judgment of how GIS can also be applied in the use case country (Nigeria). The study concludes by highlighting the importance GIS offers in predicting, controlling, and managing malaria in regions that are inflicted with the disease and how vital it is to public health management in Nigeria.</i>
