We present a new derivation of black hole radiation based entirely on the uncertainty principle and local spacetime curvature. Rather than relying on global quantum field theory, we identify the threshold for decoherence of photon wavefunctions in the vicinity of a Schwarzschild black hole. This leads to a precise determination of the critical coherence length and a prediction of the emission energy, spectrum, and power law that exactly recovers Hawking’s temperature after angular averaging. This quantum suppression model provides a local, causal, and physically intuitive origin for Hawking radiation and resolves several of its conceptual challenges.
