Modelling the Impacts of the Water Framework Directive, 2008

<br>The <i>Modelling the Impacts of the European Union Water Framework Directive</i> (Catchment Hydrology, Resources, Economics and Management: Integrated Modelling of Water Framework Directive Impacts upon Rural Land Use and Farm Incomes - ChReam) project brought together hydrology, economics and other disciplines to examine both the physical impacts of the EU Water Framework Directive upon rivers and how the changes in land use needed to achieve a reduction in pollutants in water are likely to impact upon already fragile farming communities. A variety of innovative techniques were applied to attempt to value the likely benefits of improving outdoor water quality. The UK Data Archive holds data from a structured survey conducted as part of the project, of waterside recreational visitors, in particular anglers, exploring preferences and associated economic values for likely changes to the water environment arising from EU Water Framework Directive implementation. <br>
