Pharmacovigilance Program of India Poster Presentation

This poster highlights the significance of adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting and the role of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) in strengthening patient safety. It provides an overview of pharmacovigilance, a timeline of PvPI milestones since its establishment in 2010, and the key functions of the program, including ADR collection, signal detection, regulatory recommendations, and awareness initiatives. The content emphasizes what types of ADRs should be reported, the criteria for serious ADRs, and the communication flow of reports through the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, CDSCO, and the WHO-Uppsala Monitoring Centre.A case report of Aceclofenac-induced Stevens–Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (SJS/TEN) overlap is presented to demonstrate the clinical severity of ADRs and the importance of timely detection and reporting. Challenges in ADR reporting are discussed, along with digital solutions such as the PvPI mobile app, which facilitates user-friendly and accessible reporting for healthcare professionals and consumers. The poster reinforces the message that ADR reporting is a shared responsibility across the healthcare system and that “reporting ADRs today ensures safer medicines tomorrow.”
