资源简介:
Two cores were collected using a split spoon sampler on a drill rig from
Fort Shafter Flats. Individual pollen samples were examined approximately every
half foot between a depth of 8 and 11 feet in Core D. A single sample between
13 and 13 1/2 feet was also examined. Core E represents a continuation in depth
and sampling from 14 1/2 to 22 1/2 feet. Since the project area was located in
a marine environment, pollen preservation was expected to be poor and pollen
recovery was doubtful, at least for the lower sediments. Pollen analysis was
undertaken to examine these sediments, particularly the upper sediments, for
evidence of utilization either as fishponds or for wetland agriculture.
