Toxic cyanobacteria database (TcDB)

TcDB is a specialized database dedicated to toxin-producing cyanobacteria. Relevant information on both toxic and non-toxic cyanobacteria (at the genus, species, and strain levels) was systematically collected from the Web of Science database. The compiled data were organized into two separate files: TcDB_Toxic.xlsx and TcDB_nonToxic.xlsx.The TcDB_Toxic.xlsx table contains information on 475 toxic strains, including the following fields: availability of the 16S rRNA gene for download from NCBI, genus, species, strain, toxin-encoding gene, toxin type, toxin name, toxin abbreviation, detailed toxin characteristics, and corresponding references.The TcDB_nonToxic.xlsx table comprises 225 non-toxic strains, with data categorized into five columns: availability of the 16S rRNA gene from NCBI, genus, species, strain designation, and references.Subsequently, each identified strain was individually queried on the NCBI database, and all accessible full-length 16S rRNA gene sequences were retrieved. These sequences were further assembled into three FASTA‑format datasets, designated as TcDB_Toxic_strain.fasta, TcDB_Toxic_species.fasta, and TcDB_nonToxic_strain.fasta.
