资源简介:
JMA conducted a Phase I investigation of the Troy Lock and Dam property, located in the City of Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, with subsurface testing of select portions of unpaved areas within the property to test for intact archeological sites and deposits.
In 1993, the District determined that the Troy Lock and Dam property was not eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP); however, no previous surveys have been undertaken to determine the archaeological sensitivity of unpaved areas within the lock and dam property. A total of ten shovel test units (STUs) were excavated within the facility, with a total of 85 historic-period artifacts recovered (no prehistoric artifacts were recovered).
No structural or other intact features were identified during the survey. STU stratigraphy and artifact content confirmed that extensive prior ground disturbance had occurred within the Troy Lock and Dam facility prior to its construction. The collected artifacts were not grouped in any particular pattern that suggested the presence of a definable historic site or locus of activity within the tested areas.
