Potential of Erwinia sp. for tetracycline degradation in agricultural soil systems irrigated with wastewater

This study investigates how the bacterium Erwinia sp. S9 influences bacterial communities in soil and plant under greenhouse conditions. The soils and roots of pea plants (Pisum sativum) were exposed to tetracycline, inoculated with Erwinia sp. S9, or both. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to characterize bacterial communities and assess the potential of Erwinia sp. to degrade tetracycline and support soil microbial health.
