Human brain samples were analyzed using RNA-Seq. Host genome and transcriptome sequences were removed from the shotgun reads obtained from multiplexed libraries. The remaining read pairs were then mapped against a database of viral and bacterial sequences using Novoalign. Reads that mapped unambiguously to a bacterial/viral sequence and aligned in a proper pair are included here.
