Soil silicon concentrations in litter and nutrient manipulation experiments in tropical forest on Gigante Peninsula, Panama

This dataset contains information on extractable soil silicon concentrations in field-scale manipulation experiments in tropical forest on Gigante Peninsula, Panama. The experiments include (1) a litter manipulation experiment involving 15 years of addition or removal of leaf litter, and (2) a nutrient addition experiment involving 20 years of factorial additions of nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus. Silicon extractions include (1) available Si extracted in 0.01 M calcium chloride, (2) reactive pedogenic Si extracted in 0.2 M acid ammonium oxalate, and (3) biogenic Si extracted in hot 1% sodium carbonate. There are two sheets - one for results from the litter experiment, and another for results from the nutrient addition experiment.
