EV Charging and Multimodal Travel Policy Acceptance Survey: Car Commuters in Greater Cambridge, UK, 2023

This dataset comprises stated preference (SP) survey responses from 170 active car commuters in Greater Cambridge, UK, collected to examine how electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure interacts with broader multimodal transport policy in shaping travel behaviour. Rapid expansion of EV charging capacity is rarely assessed alongside complementary interventions such as park-and-ride, carpooling incentives, cycling infrastructure, and congestion or parking charges, despite their combined relevance to reducing car dependency in urban areas facing traffic congestion and stringent climate targets. Data were collected online via Qualtrics between February and April 2023. Respondents were recruited through University of Cambridge communication channels and local community contacts, and screened to include only individuals who drove into or within Cambridge at least once per week. The survey instrument comprised four parts: eligibility screening; sociodemographic and travel-context variables (age, gender, residential location, dependants, employment, workplace, vehicle type, and parking arrangements); Likert-scale ratings (15) of likely behavioural response to 12 policy interventions spanning EV charging, park-and-ride, carpooling, and city-centre measures, with open-ended follow-up questions on non-acceptance; and a one-day travel diary recording trip purpose, timing, chaining, and mode.
