The purpose of this study is to clarify the distribution and diversity of denitrifying microbes in the various terrestrial environments including paddy, cropland, and forest soils and a lake sediment. The genes coding two types of nitrite reductase, NirK and NirS, were targeted to PCR based sequencing analysis.
