FIELD: paper. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating starch in processes for producing cellulose， paper and cardboard， in which recycled fibre material is used as raw material. Fibrous material of secondary processing is converted into pulp in grinder. Obtained pulp flow includes processed fibres and starch dispersed in an aqueous phase. Amylase enzyme inhibitor and/or at least one biocide is added to the flow of pulp or into an aqueous process stream containing starch to prevent decomposition of starch. Then， amphoteric polyacrylamide obtained by copolymerisation of (meth)acrylamide with cationic and anionic monomers is added to bind starch with fibres to the flow of pulp or to an aqueous process stream containing starch.
