Zimbabwe (2013): Qualitative Segmentation Study on Understanding the motivators and barriers to accessing services among women aged 18-49 years who have experienced violence in Zimbabwe

This study sought to understand the motivators and barriers to accessing services among women who have experienced violence. This was a qualitative study design employing in-depth interviews with health/service providers in program area, community members and women who experienced sexual violence and accessed services and for all the age group was 18-49 in both rural and urban areas in Zimbabwe. 36 individual participants plus 4 focus group discussions were purposively selected to participate in the study. This included 20 females (10 rural and 10 urban) and 16 males (8 rural and 8 urban). Key informant interviews with 4 providers in each of the program areas (two urban and two rural), 4 focus group discussions with approximately 6-8 people will be held in the program areas (2 rural and 2 urban), 8 interviews with women and 8 interviews with men in the program area (8 urban and 8 rural), 4 interviews with women who have accessed services after experiencing sexual violence in each of the program areas (2 rural and 2 urban), 4) interviews with women who experienced violence while in a marriage or a stable union (2 rural and 2 urban).
