PacBio sequencing of Northern shrimp transcriptome.

Increasing use of the chitin synthesis inhibiting pesticide diflubenzuron (DFB) against salmon lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) in marine aquaculture has raised concerns over its environmental impacts. In this project we performed laboratory experiments to study the combined effects of DFB exposure and climate change on different life stages of Northern shrimp (Pandalus borealis). Genomic approaches will allow us to better understand the physiological responses of Northern shrimp to DFB under ambient and predicted future climate conditions. Since there has been very little sequence data published for Northern shrimp, we generated a transcriptome of this species exposed to DFB under ambient and future climate conditions using long read PacBio sequencing.
