Sustainable Environment, Resilient Communities (Northern Tablelands and Slopes landscape of the Border Rivers-Gwydir catchments)

This project is aimed at conserving and protecting species and ecosystems of national environmental significance on the Northern Tablelands and Slopes. It will protect the values and integrity of internationally significant sites, such as Little Llangothlin Lagoon and the Gondwana Rainforests. To reach its goals, the project will: ·         Build community skills and knowledge ·         Improve the governance and capacity of Indigenous communities in natural resource management (NRM) so they can develop new NRM enterprises ·         Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with land managers and technical experts to ensure sound and realistic outcomes ·         Protect or enhance the intrinsic values of World Heritage Sites, places of natural National Heritage and Ramsar sites ·         Protect or enhance habitat condition and extent for nationally significant species and communities ·         Reward landholders that manage and maintain threatened ecological communities or species, through stewardship incentives ·         Establish a regional weeds response network covering the Northern Inland Weeds Advisory Committee region and Far North Coast, Mid North Coast and South West Queensland Weeds Committee regions ·         Trial innovative weed detection methods
