Binary CG lightning over Austria on ERA5 grid cells

This dataset contains binary cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning observations recorded by the Austrian Lightning Detection and Information System (ALDIS) from 1992 to 2024. The data are aggregated on an hourly basis and spatially gridded to ERA5 resolution (0.25° × 0.25°) across the Austrian domain. All currents, low amplitudes (-5 up to +15kA) and high amplitudes (excluding low amplitudes) are provided. The data file includes: time (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS UTC) spid (ERA5 cell ID) longitude (°) latitude (°) flash_hour (1 = detected, 0 = not detected) Reprocessed CG flashes Additionally, reprocessed CG measurements for the summers (June-August) of 2004 and 2005 are available. The reprocessing used the latest classification algorithm CC3, but ignored signal information from Lightning Position and Tracking system (LPATS) sensors.
