High quality genome assembly of Lepus europaeus. The genome was assembled using 25X PacBio HiFi sequencing data and then scaffolded using Hi-C sequencing data. The assembled genome is 2.96 Gbp in length with a contig N50 of 58 Mbp. The genome has a high degree of completeness based on the BUSCO score, Complete: 96.1% [Single copy: 93.1%, Duplicated: 3.0%] Fragmented 0.8%, and Missing 2.9% based on the mammalia_odb10 database. The genome is from a fibroblast cell line generated from a hare harvested in Liperi, Finland. As this genome is from a different species compared to the currently available hare reference L. timidus genome it will provide a useful comparison for evolutionary studies.
