Archival sequencing of Anolis wattsi group specimens for species identification

The goal of the study was to test the species identification of two paratypes of Anolis pogus collected on Anguilla. This species is thought to have gone locally extinct on the island based on these collections. However, other evidence does not support the historical presence of Anolis pogus. This study examined multiple lines of evidence for the historical presence of this species on Anguilla including testing if these specimens were identified correctly. Data from this project shows that these specimens were misidentified and are Anolis schwartzi.
