The Antarctic moss Pohlia nutans genome sequencing and assembly. Pohlia nutans

The moss Pohlia nutans is abundant in the Fildes Peninsula and Victoria Land of Antarctica. They usually occur as small and isolated colonies with short shoots (1-2 cm length). We used a combination of Illumina short read and PacBio Seque HiFi read sequencing approaches to obtain a high-quality genome of P. nutans isolate NO.L. The contig N50 length is 796.64 kb and the scaffold N50 length is 1.09 Mb. A total of 41,374 protein-coding genes were identified combining three annotation strategies, with an average coding-sequence length of 1,353.45 bp and an average of 6.28 exons per gene.
