In this study, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was used to compare isogenic populations differing only in their degrees of oxacillin resistance and carrying various methicillin genetic determinants in order to see if a common molecular mechanism for the establishment of high and homogeneous levels of oxacillin resistance could be present among close-related species regardless the methicillin genetic determinant carried.
