Anonymised thematic summary of a 6-week ethnographic fieldwork placement at Manipal Hospice and Respite Care (MHRC), Manipal, India (Summer 2026, Stories That Matter Community Impact Internship, MISHA/MAHE Manipal). Documents 41 informal care practices observed across 9 patient vignettes (P-1 to P-9), organised into 7 thematic categories: Body and Space Practices, Touch and Voice Practices, Handover and Knowledge Transfer, Informal Welfare Practices, Cultural and Spiritual Practices, Dysphagia and Caregiver Food, and Informal Economy Practices. Practices are coded using Hayekian spontaneous order criteria (unintentional origin, tacit knowledge, self-correcting feedback), Mengerian subjective welfare criteria, Kirznerian entrepreneurial alertness, Everly Psychological First Aid (PFA) triage taxonomy, and an Ayurvedic Dual Pharmacopoeia framework. The dataset introduces the Speech-Swallow-Soul Triad (Swallowing / Speech-Vāk / Soul-Prāna) as an original clinical construct for oropharyngeal loss in palliative settings. Raw field journals are withheld in accordance with participant confidentiality commitments. All participants are anonymised (P-1 to P-9). No names, diagnoses, or family details are included.
