The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor traverses the Pamir Plateau and the Karakoram mountain range, where a wide range of geological disasters caused by permafrost thawing and freezing action are prevalent and distributed above 4000 meters in altitude. The study of the distribution and mapping of permafrost in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is fundamental for addressing practical engineering issues within the corridor and holds significant importance for water resource utilization, ecological security, and border defense construction. The study area covers an approximate spatial range of 23°47′ N to 40°55′ N and 60°20′ E to 80°16′ E, including the Kashi region and the Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, China, as well as the entire territory of Pakistan. This paper collects MODIS land surface temperature data from 2016, the Chinese Pamir Plateau Glacier Inventory data from 2009, the Pakistani Glacier Inventory data from 2003-2004, and the 2008 World Soil Database (HWSDv1.2). The distribution data of permafrost in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor were obtained based on the TTOP (Top-of-Permafrost Temperature Model) in GeoTIFF format with a spatial resolution of 1 km. The method of data preparation was analyzed and evaluated using the coefficient of determination from statistics, and the quality of the data results was verified with existing literature. This dataset can serve as a background survey for the permafrost changes in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and provide fundamental data support for research on frost heave and settlement during engineering construction in the region. The dataset can also be integrated with climate and hydrological data for comprehensive analysis, revealing the quantitative relationships between water, soil, air, and life in the Karakoram mountain area of the China-Pakistan corridor, and deepening the scientific understanding of ecological environment and sustainable development under the background of climate change in the region.
