Data obtained from the study of the kinetics of absorption and swelling of commercial polyacrylamide hydrogel beads in different aqueous solutions of glycerin, and its dependence on viscosity, through the variation of the concentration of glycerin in solution. Experiments carried out with a gravimetric technique and through laser visualization to study the first moments of the swelling phenomenon, obtaining information of the core-shell structure of the hydrogel bead and the instabilities of its surface.
