Water current velocity measurements from two acoustic doppler current profilers moored in the South Atlantic Ocean basin (16 S), both on and off of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge on cruise JC275, February - March, 2025.

This dataset contains eastward, northward, and upward water current velocities, and water temperature values measured by Teledyne Workhorse Longrange 75kHz acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCPs) deployed on two moorings, one per mooring. One mooring was deployed within the South Atlantic Ocean basin at 16 S and 19 W from the 25th of February 2025 to the 18th of March 2025. The other was deployed within the Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 16 S and 13 W from the 28th of February 2025 to the 20th of March 2025. The velocity data have been trimmed to remove pre- and post- deployment data (26th of February to 13th of March 2025, and 1st of March to 19th of March 2025, respectively), and they have been quality controlled and processed to 4 minute ensembles and 16 m vertical bins. The temperature data were calibrated using calibrated CTD data from casts near the mooring sites. These data were collected to contrast water features both on and off of the ridge, as part of the NERC Discovery Science grant NE/X013758/1 titled "Enhanced carbon export driven by internal tides over the mid-Atlantic ridge (CarTRidge)".
