Bacteriophage exist in incredible abundance and diversity in nature, and there are many undocumented or underrepresented bacteriophage families. A broader base of bacteriophage genomes can help illuminate their evolutionary histories and reveal novel genetic features. Our goal was to sequence and annotate the genome of SirSheldon, a bacteriophage isolated as part of the SEA-PHAGES Phage Hunters program.
