To investigate the potential roles of miRNA regulation in heat stress, four sRNA libraries of P. yezoensis under heat stress for different times were sequenced to determine the sRNA expression profiles of P. yezoensis. Heat stress-responsive miRNAs and their target genes were analyzed. A number of miRNAs were validated by stem-loop real-time quantitative RT-PCR. The results will facilitate the elucidation of heat-stress acclimation mechanisms and lay the foundation for future genetic improvements of Pyropia heat-stress tolerance.
